Chagall’s personal favorite painting will be sold at Bonham’s in London this June, a Russian site, RT has the details:
The large painting entitled “La Revolution” was never exhibited or shown to the public during Chagall’s lifetime, and is estimated to fetch up to $3 million. “La Revolution” was particularly cherished by the Jewish artist, who kept it at his house in France until his death and considered to be representative of his life. […] Although it was initially considered that the painting was created in 1937, recent research by the Comité Chagall has come to the conclusion that the date is most likely to have been 1968, due to similarities in Chagall’s signature characters, color and composition with works of that period.
