Austrian's Make Old Master Mark

April 22, 2010 by Marion Maneker

A record price was set for the Old Master Frans Francken this week at Austria’s Dorotheum auction house:

The old Dutch Master’s painting “Der Mensch, der sich zwischen Tugenden und Lastern entscheiden muss” (The Human who has to decide between Virtue and Vice) was bought for 7,022,300 Euros when it went under the hammer at Viennese auctioneers Dorotheum yesterday (Weds). Dorotheum officials said the highest bid was made by London-based arts trader Johnny Van Haeften.

Record €7.02mn for Old Masters Painting (Austrian Independent)
