Fairey: Banksy Film Real, I Swear

April 19, 2010 by Marion Maneker

Shepard Fairey was caught in an unbelievably ill-considered lie in the battle over his use of an image of Barack Obama in his famous “Hope” poster. Now a writer for Vanity Fair thinks Fairey invoking god is anything but an ironic statement. The street artist was appealed to vouch for the veracity of Banksy’s new movie:

I asked Fairey directly whether Mr. Brainwash was a hoax devised by Banksy. “I swear to god that’s not the case,” he said. “Banksy may not want me to say that but no, it’s not.”
