Sotheby's Mid-Season Sale, Highlights

Sotheby’s Armory Week sale is still going on but the results are not mind-blowing. After yesterday’s explosion in Amsterdam when the Peter Stuyvesant Collection went for double the high estimate at $18m, maybe there was no point in competing. Whatever the cause, some of the Contemporary names stacked at the front of the sale–Kehinde Wiley, Damian Loeb, Lisa Yuskavage, Karin Davie–had trouble reaching lift-off with several unsold lots and unspectacular prices for the lots that did sell.
