Hindman Expands to Florida

January 29, 2010 by Marion Maneker

Brook Mason reports in The Art Newspaper:

Chicago-based Leslie Hindman whose eponymous auction house is the largest in the Midwest with 40 sales annually has just staked out a Naples, Florida outpost. She expects to hold three sales yearly and ship material from there to her Illinois sales room.

“There’s really no auction house serving the South and Naples is filled with solid people from the Midwest, so it’s a great place for us,” says Leslie Hindman, who has taken a 3,000-sq-ft premises. She plans for her Florida quarters of Leslie Hindman Auctioneers to tackle the entire Southern region.

To chase down consignments, Hindman has brought on two veterans of David Lester’s fair empire, International Fine Art Expositions, based in nearby Bonita Springs. They include Maura Ross and Kristin Vaughn.
