Ritchies Forced into Bankruptcy

October 28, 2009 by Marion Maneker

The convoluted saga of Ritchies auction house, the Canadian firm that locked out employees and spooked consignors, has come to an end, the Toronto Star reports:

The 42-year-old auction house says it was forced into the situation after Ritchies landlord, Hildegard Hammer, petitioned a court to order bankruptcy. Ontario Superiour Court granted that application Monday.

Other reports have the auction house $131,000 behind in rent payments.
