Sotheby's HK Chinese Painting

Sotheby’s Asia Week is gaining momentum as the lots of Fine Chinese Painting are getting snapped up with strong numbers. Clocking in around the $24m mark or HK$182m, the 253-lot sale is just wrapping up with a number of paintings reaching powerful numbers (sale details to follow):

Wu Changshuo, FlowersThe lot, Wu Changshua’s Flowers, was estimated at HK$2m but attracted bidding up to HK$7.22m setting a new record for the artist. That price translates into $930,000.

Li Keran, Tranquil LandscapeLi Keran’s Tranquil Landscape won’t set any records, his work has sold for as high as $4m. But this Tranquil Landscape was estimated at HK$4.5m and it too reached the HK$7.34m to be the highest value work to sell in the two sessions.
