It was the mystery of the Spring. First observers fingered Henry Kravis–but the buyout maven would not risk alienating his investors–he quickly denied it. Now, Bloomberg says the buyer was a Greek collector:
Dinos Martinos has been identified by dealers as the buyer of the Eileen Gray chair that fetched a record 21.9 million euros at the Christie’s Saint Laurent sale in February. Martinos is head of Thenamaris Ships Management Inc.
But let’s remember that dealers say lots of things.
