Sophisticated in Atlanta

August 19, 2009 by Marion Maneker

Even in the worst of economic times, galleries still open. Proudly Georgia-centric, here’s one in Atlanta that features local artists and works the community for sales:

In January 2009, Atlanta native, Yu-Kai Lin opened a chic art gallery, Kai Lin Art, in the heart of midtown Atlanta where he features exclusively Atlanta artists. Many Atlanta galleries look to cities like New York and Los Angeles for emerging artists and miss the fascinating developments happening in the Atlanta art scene. According to Yu-Kai, “Atlanta has such a rich art culture, there is no need to look elsewhere. […]

Yu-Kai emphasizes value. Kai Lin Art is mostly priced in the $500 to $5000 range which seems to keep his customers happy. By focusing on the local art scene, Yu-Kai keeps his costs of shipping and insurance down which makes his art affordable. Value does’t just mean price though, Kai Lin Art features a $1 million, original work “The Annunciation of Paris” from the Paris Hilton Series by Brett Osborn, Dean of Fine Arts at the Atlanta Campus of SCAD.  Yu-Kai describes his regular customers as sophisticated midtown residents and tourists who have an eye for color, style and design.

Raised in Roswell, GA and working in the family laundry busines, Yu-Kai learned the values of hard work and living frugal.
