Australia's Fake Factory

June 10, 2009 by Marion Maneker

Four Corners AustraliaFour Corners, an investigative journalism show, explores a variety of cases of art forgery and dealer fraud in Australia, inluding the famous Ronald Coles case where the gallerist was both deceiving buyers seeking investment returns in art and passing off fake works or doctoring real works to be more valuable. At one point in the show, an established Australian artist is shown one of his canvases that has been artificially aged and had the signature of a more famous predecessor placed upon it.
