Our Flemish is non-existent. But if anyone out there cares to translate this video of what appears to be a container with a Keith Haring painting on the side being put into a Belgian collection, we would be appreciative.
(Update: A little close study of the video tells us that container was at the Channel Surf Club in what sounds like Germany and Haring painted it. Then it disappeared.~How are we doing so far?)
The link to this video is courtesy of Luuk Christiaens (twitter.com/LuukChristiaens) who offers this twitter synopsis: I’ll give it a try. Container bought 20 years ago by owner of a waste management firm, parked somewhere…forgotten. (Further Update from Luuk Christiaens:)
You’re doing pretty well !
The Channel Surf Club is/was situated in Knokke at the Belgian coast.
Keith Haring painted the container back in 1990. When the club decided to get rid of the container, the owner of the waste management firm Smet Jet bought it (price mentioned in video $35,000-40,000) and decided ‘to do something with it one day’. The container was parked somewhere on the factory grounds and forgotten. Art officials reported it was lost. Until this week someone tipped the Verbeke Foundation. Container is now on loan (?)for the new exhibit at the foundation.
