Eliasson's Parliament of Reality Debuts at Bard

May 19, 2009 by Marion Maneker

Olafur Eliasson’s new work debuts at Bard College and Vanity Fair is there:

Photographs by Todd Eberle/Vanity Fair“The Parliament of Reality,” a $1.4 million dollar permanently installed island surrounded by a moat at Bard College, in Annandale-on-Hudson. Located in the front yard of the Frank Gehry Fischer Music building, the installation is essentially an amphitheater of boulders on a concrete disc, which is entered through a stainless-steel woven bridge. The space accommodates about 150 people and is designed to be a place for discussions, not to mention a peaceful place to contemplate the bucolic fields around it.
