Scott Reyburn previews three separate London sales starting with the Cecil Beaton photography sale at Sotheby’s:
“British photography has been a neglected field,” Giles Huxley-Parlour, the gallery’s photography specialist, said in an interview. “After doing shows on Terence Donovan and Lord Lichfield, we thought it logical to look at an earlier period. Beaton inspired a lot of others in the 1960s and 1970s.”
He also includes an interesting tale from the Islamic Art sale and Bonham’s African art sale that may be the beginning of a new category.
