Bloomberg catches a dealer in a moment of glee after the YSL sale, which brought in $262 million during the first session with four more still to come over the next two days:
“I can now phone up my clients and say there is nothing wrong with the market,” Paolo Vedovi, director of Brussels- based Galerie Vedovi, said in an interview. “I don’t know whether it will affect us as dealers.”
Artist records were set for Matisse, Brancusi, Duchamp and Mondrian.
The Telegraph spotted some celebrities:
Bianca Jagger and Viscount Linley, the chairman of Christie’s, were among the famous faces present at a sale that experts hope will give the depressed art market a much-needed boost.
