Photography Week Starts with Strength

October 14, 2008 by Marion Maneker

Christie’s Gets Good Results for Eggleston

Photography week began yesterday with two sales at Christie’s.

The Bruce and Nancy Berman Collection continued with an all William Eggleston sale that set a new world record for the artist. But no matter how strong the sale was, the art market proved again that it only values the highest quality material.

The accompanying sale of Contemporary Photography was 54% sold but the big sale of 259 lots comes up Tuesday with Penn, Weston, Adams and Atget leading the sale.
