Asia Week Opens with $12,634,375 for Indian Modern Art

Suboodh Gupta leads the way with a pots and pans painting, Steal 2, that brings in $1.6 million. Gupta had three of the top five works in the sale. Tyeb Mehta’s Untitled (Yellow Heads) reached over $900,000 in bidding. Other important sales by Husain, Newton, Broota, Raza and Rashid Rana showed the market for Sub-continental art remains strong.
