Thieves Grab Picasso Etchings from a Palm Beach Gallery–but Can’t Sell Them

In May, two etchings were stolen from Gallery Biba in Palm Beach. Here’s video of a local news story covering the theft. But the latest comes from the Sun-Sentinel:

Marcus Patmon, 37, was arrested at his home in Miami Friday after he tried to sell the etching to a California art dealer.

Patmon was charged with dealing in stolen property. Additional charges of burglary and grand theft are pending.

According to Palm Beach police, who assisted in the investigation, Patmon tried to sell Le Repas Frugal, valued at $395,000, to a California art dealer in July. When the dealer checked the Art Loss Registry and realized the etching had been stolen, she contacted Gallery Biba.
