Who Will Get Fresno Met Collection to Sell?
The Fresno Metropolitan Art Museum closed last year. It’s 3,000-work collection has been de-accessioned but the museum will meet with auction house representatives this week to determine how they are sold, according to the Fresno Bee (the Art Law Blog pointed us to the story):
The Met next week will review auction house proposals for sale of The Met’s art collection, which was deaccessioned by the museum’s board. The collection consists of 3,000 objects and is insured for $3 million. Thorpe said its appraised value is estimated at $3 million to $6 million.
