Pop-Up Galleries in San Francisco
San Francisco supervisor Sophie Maxwell was interviewed by the SF Chronicle about the new program:
The program – started by the mayor’s administration, the arts commission and neighborhood groups and galleries – aims to get San Francisco-based artists to reinvigorate downtrodden neighborhoods with works of public art. [...] “The Bayview has long been a breeding ground for creativity with many artists living and working in the neighborhood,” Maxwell said. “Art in Storefronts taps into this resource by connecting neighborhood-based artists with local merchants and property owners who can work together to activate vacant storefronts.”
