Here’s an interesting item from the New York Post’s Page Six which speculates on the owner of 223 lots being sold at Sotheby’s Paris location in late September. By stringing together a series of blog posts, Page Six declares the owner to be Asher Edelman’s ex-wife who lives in Switzerland and is hoping to raise $2m in the sale (though Sotheby’s does not have a catalogue available yet):
Monocle magazine ran a small item on the sale, “Photographs, Furniture & Works of Art from a Parisian Flat, Avenue Montaigne,” with a few key clues. The seller is 1) a woman; 2) raised in South America; 3) married twice. Now, the Transracial.net blog has identified the mystery woman as Brazilian-born Maria Regina Leal Costa Mayall Edelman, a k a Regina Edelman — the ex-wife of Asher Edelman, the art-collecting 1980s corporate raider who was an inspiration for the Gordon Gekko character in “Wall Street.” Edelman, now married to wife No. 4, has a new art gallery on the Upper East Side.
