- Jules de Balincourt opens the sale with £67,250
- Liu Ye shows Chinese Contemporary is still kicking with £277,250 for Red I
- Murakami red Flower Ball sells for £289,250
- Antony Gormley Shift II makes £217,250 which is nicely within estimate range.
- Hirst Spot painting sells low for £337,250 but that’s still passably good.
- Christopher Wool goes for just above the high estimate to make £313,250
- Richard Prince Country Nurse gets £1.7m. That’s low and re-establishes the Nurse threshold around the $3m mark.
- Warhold self-portrait makes £690k right in line with estimates.
- Oldenberg soft Popsicle, Hamburger, Price bought in
- Bruce Nauman Wax Cat makes £175k just over high est of £150k
- Cover lot, Richter 1025 Farben sells below low est. for £1.38m
- Gursky Copan also lowers the reserve and makes £241k
- Doig, Night Playground sells for £3m–collectors are still chasing him.
- Sol Le Witt Open Geometric Structure 3 squeaks through at £211,250
- Alighiero Boetti Rosso Gilera/Rosso Guzzi breaks through to double the high est. and sell for £713,250
- Cy Twombly untitled work gets £802,250 comfortably over the high est.
- This sale is going well for Christie’s and confirms the relative strength of the Contemporary market.
- Fontana Concetto Spaziale also blows through the high est. of £400k to sell for £713,250
- First Dubuffet La Nef handily defeats the estimates and makes £385,250
- Second, La Coiffeuse is sold for £690,850
- Pierre Alechinsky makes £277,250 following on the strength of the Continental trend.
- Big Fontana lot Concetto Spaziale, natura and Concetto spaziale, Attese are bought in
- Yves Klein ANT 159 also fails to sell. So much for the Continental momentum.
- Frank Auerbach Mornington Crescent makes £881k well above high est.
- Auerbach Head of Debbie Ratcliff II makes £343,250
- Bacon Study for Portrait goes for low est. at £870k
- Robert Gober work passes and Jeff Koons Flowers sell just under low est at £337k
- Koons Walrus sells for £361,250
- Koons Moustache: £1.1m–not so nice.
- Joana Vasconcelos gets £163,250
- Basquiat withdrawn
- Anselm Kiefer £409,250
- Gilbert & George makes a strong price of £241,250
- John Baldessari Four Men £169,250–not a great price.
- Rudolf Stingel £385,250–that’s right at the low est. mark
- Julie Mehretu Transients, the second Mehretu of the week sells for £229,250
- Second Stingel £181,250–not so good.
- Damien Hirst Guardian makes £301,250
- Zeng Fanzhi Untitled is £229,250
- Wesselmann Reclining Stockinged Nude #8 reaches £337,250

Unlike Modern and Impressionist, collectors appear to be willing to part with some nice Contemporary pieces in this market – just not top Post War Contemporary.
Doig & the Mehretu – Could this be a sign that we may see the return of lots by other "bright young things" from the recent past? Wouldn't mind seeing how well Daniel Richter would hold up.
