The Master, Judd Tully, gives his appraisal of the YSL/Bergé works he considers overvalued and undervalued. Tully is a keen observer, so his handicapping should not be ignored. He’s pro-Duchamp and dubious on Brancusi and Picasso. But there’s no telling how this sale will play with the kind of provenances–many sporting stellar names pre-YSL/Bergé–there’s much to motivated buyers.
On the other hand, there’s the world-wide financial crisis.
