Currin Considered

The $5.5 million sale two weeks ago of John Currin’s Nice ‘N Easy (1999) was a seminal event in the artist’s career. The price eclipsed anything his work had achieved previously (a six-fold increase in his top price for those keeping score at home.)

With that in mind, we were reminded of this well-done slide show by Slate’s Mia Fineman. She’s not a big fan of Currin’s work but that doesn’t take a way from her insights and the quick and enjoyable tour of Currin’s career that she provides.
